Background
The Grancabrio is the stunning open top convertible version of the GranTurismo. That means a spellbinding style, a choice of V8 power and a fabric soft top to create a true Maserati convertible. For more information on the Maserati Grancabrio, click on our further stories on the links below.

60sec road test
Take one GranTurismo coupe and lop the top off. That's the simple recipe of the only Maser soft-top on sale today. It works, though. The range is identical to the GT, and has recently been simplified into Sport and MC trim levels, with the former actually (bafflingly) the more luxurious of the two. Keen drivers will want the MC, but its harder-edged nature suits the tin-top better than the Grancab. All the Grancabrios sold now come with the auto 'box, which is fine by us. It makes for a great sun-soaker.
The one we'd buy
4.7 V8 Sport
The one we'd avoid like the plague
4.7 V8 MC
Rivals to consider
Aston Martin DB11 Volante, BMW 6-series Convertible, Porsche 911 Cabriolet
For
Style, luxury, driving dynamics
Against
Will your head let you go Italian away from the German safety net?
